British 2CV Team challenge at Spa-Francorchamps
Sunday, 18 November 2007 17:14
UK Champ Philip Myatt and 2CV racing regulars Steve Panas and Andy Smith took part in the European 2CV 24 Hour Race at the F1 track in Belgium last weekend (10/11th Nov). As the only British entry, the team fought well to qualify 7th out of 67 in wet conditions as the snow thawed! Myatt jumped to 3rd at the start and ran 5th for much of the first stint. Gearbox problems put pay to a good result, as the No.63 BMW-engined prototype car self-destructed the Citroen GS gearbox and, despite sterling work from the pitcrew, the car spent most of the night in the garage, leaving little time to regain lost positions. Eventually it crossed the line, unclassified in 51st. Plans are already under discussion for next year to enable this team claim their ultimate aim of an out-right victory. In addition the organisers were very impressed with the British entry and talks are now under way to try and encourage around 10 UK teams to participate in a shorter UK race or the whole 24 hour event next year.

2CV racer crowned World Champion in Legends World Final!
Thursday, 15 November 2007 17:16
Sussex 2CV racer Glenn Burtenshaw became a World Champion after winning the Legends World Final at Sears Point in the USA. Despite being only 1 of 3 UK drivers, (2CV racer Robin Webb was one of the other UK entries), Glenn stormed through to take the win in a rain soaked race. Beating the Americans and a large European contingent, Glenn can now bask in his glory, knowing that at last Britain has a World Champion in sport this year.

We at the 2CV Racing Club would officially like to pass our congratulations to him, well done.
