After a very hard-fought race, in completely dry weather (something of a novelty at Snetterton), Team Stinky (Thompson/Savage/Hallgren/Yates) were the victors in the 24 hour race, taking the chequered flag after 717 laps. Porky Boys (Jacques/Rottenburg/Lambert/Fritchley) took the 2nd step of the podium with 716 laps, just one lap behind the leaders, and Team SeaLion (Harrold/Davis/Rowland/Sparrow) took 3rd place with 714 laps completed. With just 3 laps between the top 3 cars, it was one of the closest races for many years.
The Euro class was won by BNLL/GTR (de Bonhome/Brevien/Kodeck/Coppieters) on 723 laps, ahead of the CGS Racing Team (Hooreman C/Hooreman S/Masson/Herr) with 708 laps, and in 3rd was Piga Racing Team (Denys/Hoeyemakers/Beckers/Gaspar) with 687 laps completed.
Sammie Fritchley was racing with Porky Boys, and finishing ahead of Pete Sparrow in Team SeaLion earned her enough points to take the 2013 ECAS 2CVPARTS.COM championship victory.

Reigning ECAS 2CVParts.com Champion Alec Graham dragged himself back into the title hunt with back-to-back pole positions and victories at Croft. Leading from the front he managed to fend off the attack of Pete Sparrow in race 1 to win by just 0.3 seconds, with Ainslie Bousfield escaping the chasing pack on the last lap to take 3rd place. Race 2 saw Graham at the front again, this time fighting with Peter Rundle and Sammie Fritchley. Despite having both of them right on his tail all race, he was never headed and duly took the win from Rundle and Fritchley by half a second. It was a bad race for then Championship leader Steve Panas, who failed to finish after a collision with Paul Rowland, which now leaves Sparrow in the Championship lead just ahead of Fritchley and Graham. The next race is a non-championship 30 minute event at Mallory Park in Leicestershire, once again LIVE on Motors TV (Sky Channel 447 (from May 9th), Virgin Channel 545). Don't miss it!

The 2013 ECAS 2CVParts.com Championship kicked off in style at Donington Park, live on Motors TV! Race 1 saw a great three-way fight for the lead between Pete Sparrow, Marc Nordon and Ainslie Bousfield. With the chequered flag in sight it looked as though Nordon was about to take a sensational first win for MiM Racing, but Bousfield had other ideas and with an astonishing last corner manoeuvre, sneaked though to take the first victory of the year! Race 2 saw an even bigger fight for the lead between Peter Rundle, Sammie Fritchley, Steve Panas, Simon Clarke and reigning champion Alec Graham, who had not been classified in the first race after a lengthy delay in the pits. It was just as close as race 1, but in the end it was Graham who triumphed, ahead of Panas and Fritchley.
If you were not able to catch the races live at the track, or on MotorsTV, you can catch up on YouTube: > Click here <
The next meeting will be at Croft in North Yorkshire, on April 27th-28th. Expect more sensational racing! |
