A full breakdown of the results can be downloaded (PDF format) by clicking this link.

The race featured nearly the full gamut of British weather, from bright warm sunshine to rain coming down so hard that the race had to be temporarily stopped due to flooding on the track!

All cars that started the event - a record 39 in total - finished the race, with Team Stinky, Team Fine Print and Rosie Racing just managing to get their cars over the line at the end after experiencing some problems with reliability.

Fastest lap for the UK championship class went to the TPS Tugzi team, who finished 2nd in class and 5th overall, with a 1:52.158. For the Euro class, the fastest lap went to the BNLL team with a 1:43.425 lap, and for the Mini Grand class, Team Ted took the fastest lap with a 1:48.533, before finishing second in class and 3rd overall.

The race was broadcast live over the Internet, and you can see some of the broadcast footage here: click this link. Over 2,000 unique visitors watched the race broadcast, from as far away as Namibia, Albania, and New Zealand, as well as the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands.

2012 races 7+8 - Croft
Tuesday, 07 August 2012 21:03

A whopping 28 cars took part in the lastest rounds of the 2CVParts.com Championship, held at the Croft circuit in North Yorkshire.  Pole position for race 1 was taken by Nick Paton, with double 2011 champion Sammie Fritchley joining him on the front row.  In the race, Paton managed to break away and was joined by Philip Myatt and Alec Graham, both of whom were in contention to take the 2012 title.

With two corners to go, Graham tried to get past Paton for 2nd, but in his attempt to defend from the attack, Paton collided with Myatt in front, gifting the win to Graham.  Paton failed to finish, whilst Myatt rejoined to finish 4th, behind Matthew Hollis and Steve Panas.

Race 2 saw Simon Clarke on pole position ahead of his Gadget teammate Peter Rundle.  After losing the lead on the run down to the first corner, Clarke re-passed Rundle halfway around lap 1 and was never headed again, eventually winning the race by over 5 seconds.

2nd place went to Alec Graham, who had fought through brilliantly from 12th on the grid, which was enough to take the 2012 2CVParts.com Championship.  The final podium position was taken by Ainslie Bousfield, who passed Rundle on the last lap.

2012 races 5+6 - Mallory Park
Thursday, 05 July 2012 17:43

Rounds 5 and 6 saw the 2012 ECAS 2CV Racing championship head to the Leicestershire circuit Mallory Park, where a whole day of club racing was televised on satellite TV channel Motors TV. Each race was a 10 minute sprint, and as usual provided plenty of entertainment for the fans at the circuit, as well as those watching from home.

The surprise winner of race 1 was Pete Sparrow, returning to racing after a few years away, and driving the #97 Fine Print car. This was Fine Print's first win for 9 years!

Everyone who started race 1 finished it, which unfortunately can't be said of race 2, which was a bit of a crash-fest. The major accident was trigged by a coming together of Christer Hallgren in the #44 car and Richard Hollis in #71. Hollis was turned around, and both cars headed off to the outside of the Esses, where Lien Davies, lifting off the throttle to avoid wreckage, spun into the side of Hollis. Davies was then himself hit in the door by Katy Storey. Hollis and Storey retired pretty much on the spot, but Davies was able to continue, finishing 15th. Meanwhile up at the front, a great battle between Simon Clarke, Alec Graham and Nick Paton raged all race, before being settled in that order - a delighted Clarke taking the win.

2012 races 3+4 - Silverstone
Thursday, 05 July 2012 16:57

After a great start to the championship at Oulton Park, rounds 3 and 4 of the 2012 ECAS 2CV Racing championship took place at Silverstone on May 5th and 6th. Each race a 14 lap sprint around the short Silverstone track, which usually provides some fierce racing!

Peter Rundle took race 1 honours in a close finish, with Phil Myatt coming second after a race-long fight.

Race 2 was another close finish between Sandro Proietti and Wayne Cowling - the pair of them finishing just 74 thousandths of a second apart, with the next car 12 seconds back!

2012 races 1+2 - Oulton Park
Tuesday, 27 March 2012 14:40

The 2012 season of classic 2CV racing got under way at Oulton Park on March 24th, and it was as if no one had been away! Many of the same cars that finished the season in 2011 were still present, and no major colour scheme changes to confuse the spectators!

What was evident however, was that quite a few cars that only turn up for the 24 hour race were now entered into the sprint races, piloted by some new faces. Ian Arnold was driving the old orange 'Boss Hoggs Army' car (#50). David Watson and Marc Nordon (ex-BTCC) had taken on 'Badgaroo' (#89), James Northfield joined Nick Finch in the #59 'Traleda' car, and the pairing of Adam Bollons/Bankhurst took on the Overflow car (#81) - Bankhurst returning after competing in the 24 hour in 'Team Dogfish'.

With Christer Hallgren taking over Nick Paton's previous car (#44), and Julie Walford driving the Steve Walford Motorsport car (#55), there were at least 5 new drivers at Oulton, and we also welcomed back some of the drivers who have raced with us before!

Oulton Park is known for its fickle weather, but with mid-March enjoying a slightly unseasonal run of good weather, all the races took place in the sunshine. Qualifying took place early at 08:55, and there were some pretty tired people in the paddock.

Sammie Fritchley and Peter Rundle were wide awake though, as BOTH of them got exactly the same time in the first qualifying session, a 2:08:248. Rundle took the top spot however, having set the fastest lap time a lap prior to Fritchley. Nick Paton, just 8 hundredths of a second behind, qualified 3rd.
