Team Gadget have won the 2008 Stingray 24hr 2CV race, held at Snetterton circuit in Norfolk, over the weekend of the 10/11th August!
The win was described by circuit commentator Alan Hyde as a masterful performance from the team, with the number 2 car completing 706 laps of the 1.95 mile course before taking the chequered flag. Their nearest competitor, the Tete Rouge 1 / Myatts.co.uk car finished 9 laps behind (a close finish after 24hrs of racing!), and the 'Green Electrician' team finished in 3rd, a further 4 laps behind the 2nd place car.
Starting from 3rd place on the grid, the Gadget car was always near the front of the field, and consistent fast driving, a well maintained car and very few mistakes kept them there.
Congratulations to Wayne Cowling of Gadget, and everyone in the team!

Some report snippets from various teams:
Inworth Racing Extravaganza (car 42): All of our drivers have been Morgan racers for many years. It was our first 2CV 24-hour last year and it was a baptism of fire (well water actually), our car was hit 7 times by other cars as they strove to keep on the island. After having a new offside rear corner welded on (thanks to Jon Davis for supplying it) we spent some time before the event getting the wheels all pointing in the right direction which helped considerably with the handling. We were determined to finish better than 27th, which was last year's result. Barry Sumner built an engine that ran happily for the full 24 hours with only a top up of oil during pit stops. We qualified conservatively so as to avoid that first corner traffic jam and we were over the moon with our 13th place. We all had a great time and are already planning for next year. Many thanks to the 2CV Racing Club for a great weekend.
Team Rambo: Not much to report, really; one incident (Willie running out of petrol resulting in a 5 lap towback penalty - we now know that the engine will go for 3 hours minus half a lap on a full tank), one small bump when I was used as a brake at the entry to Coram, a failed voltage regulator, and a last-hours charge to try to get places. We got one of them, but missed out on the other by 40 seconds - made up a lap and a half in the last 45 minutes - and finished 11th. Otherwise, everything went fine - reliable Rambo this year - so Sean and Ronnie had to find things to do in between pitstops; mostly helping with the Coyle cars.
Team Stinky: Much of our problems this year were caused by fans! No, not the spectors - the important things at the front of the car. The first casualty came when lead driver Neil T spun at the Esses, which tore the welds off the fan center. Later on, the belt snapped, possibly as a result of the first incident, and then later on in the race another fan was needed after some off-circuit adventuring. A slightly sick engine and eventually a lack of brakes(!) meant we finished in 8th, but it could have been worse!
Tete Rouge 2: Steve Burns: "especially being chosen to do the final stint and having to limp the no. 4 Tete Rouge 2 car home with a very broken engine (40 minutes in 3rd gear only having to keep the engine revs between 5 & 6 thousand rpm!). A group of spectators on Revett Straight and the two marshals at the post by the pit entrance gave plenty of encouragement every time I passed with my spluttering car."
